Processing Hair Traces for Forensic Purposes.

Abstract:

Ochlupení lidského těla je často nalezenou stopou na místech trestných činů. Lidský vlas je díky jeho malým rozměrům snadno přehlédnutelný, a proto jej pachatelé obvykle ne-odstraní. Jedná se o nejčastěji zkoumanou biologickou stopu spolu se stopami krve, slin a spermatu. Kriminalisté jsou schopni za pomoci mikroskopických, biochemických a chemických metod zjistit z vlasu velké množství informací o původci. V nejlepších případech lze vyšetřením získat informace o etnické příslušnosti, pohlaví, upravovacích návycích a používané vlasové kosmetice či DNA původce stopy. Toxikologickým vyšetřením lze v současné době rozpoznat nadužívání mnoha druhů drog a prostředků používaných pro doping ve vrcholovém sportu. Cílem analýzy vlasu je v optimálním případě identifikace dané osoby. V první části práce pojednává o funkci a jednotlivých typech ochlupení, popisuje anatomii lidského vlasu, růstový cyklus, a především představuje využití analýzy lidských vlasů pro forenzní účely. Druhá část je zaměřena primárně na určení etnického původu po-mocí mikroskopické analýzy vlasu a vybudování příslušného pracoviště v laboratořích Fakulty aplikované informatiky - Univerzity Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně.

Abstract:

Human body hair is often a clue found at crime scenes. Due to its small size, human hair is easily overlooked, which is why criminals usually do not remove it. It is the most frequently investigated biological trace, along with traces of blood, saliva and semen. With the help of microscopic, biochemical and chemical methods, forensic scientists are able to find out a large amount of information about the originator from the hair. In the best cases, the examination can provide information about ethnicity, gender, grooming habits and used hair cosmetics or the DNA of the originator of the mark. Toxicological examination can currently detect the overuse of many types of drugs and substances used for doping in elite sports. The goal of hair analysis is, in the optimal case, the identification of the specific person. In the first part of the thesis discuss the function and individual types of hair, describes the anatomy of human hair, the growth cycle, and above all presents the use of human hair analysis for forensic purposes. The second part is focused primarily on the determination of ethnic origin using microscopic hair analysis and the construction of a relevant workplace in the laboratories of the Faculty of Applied Informatics - Tomas Bata Univer-sity in Zlín.
