BANKSY, Discursive repertoires contained in the work of street art artist Banksy

Abstract:

Zpracovat diskurzivní repertoáry obsažené v Banksyho tvorbě jsem se rozhodl hlavně z toho důvodu, že jeho tvorba je prodchnuta prvky sociální kritiky, které ovšem vzhledem k ohlasu, kterému se tento autor těší, pravděpodobně rezonují i mezi jeho publikem, kterému konvenují, takže analýzou diskursů Banksyho díla bychom mimo jiné mohli získat i určité indicie o názorovém backgroundu, byť někdy nevysloveném, mezi jeho fanoušky. Sheng Kuan Chung interpretuje Banksyho jako bořitele barier ve smyslu kritiky Izraelsko-palestinského konfliktu či hlas marginalizovaných, (Kuan Hung, 2009), já bych chtěl ve své analýze jít hlouběji; tyto interpretace jsou prvoplánové, odrážejí to, co je na zdech, grafikách či objektech přímo namalované, mým cílem je hledat kontexty, které dají dílům hlubší smysl, který nemusí být vždy na první pohled zřejmý.

Abstract:

I decided to elaborate the discourse repertoires of the Banksy's creation, mainly because his creation is imbued with social criticism elements, which, of course, given the reception which the author enjoys, they probably resonate also among his audience and suits it; therefore analysis of the Banksy's creation discourses may bring to us, inter alia, also certain indicia about the opinion background among his fans, although sometimes it is inexplicit. Sheng Kuan Chung interprets Banksy as the one who breaks the barriers, in the sense of his criticism of Israeli-Palestinian conflict, or the voice of those who are marginalised (Kuan Hung, 2009). In my analysis I strive to probe deeper; the above-mentioned interpretations are too obvious, theyreflect what is painted on the walls, prints or buildings. I intend to seek the contexts that give more meaning which may not be necessarily apparent at first sight.
