Development of a User-Friendly Mobile App-Based Delivery Service Platform for Efficient Goods Transportation in Ghana

Abstract:

Effective logistics operations and economic success depend on efficient and dependable delivery services. However, Ghana's delivery industry confronts many obstacles, including ineffective cargo tracking, a dearth of real-time updates, poor user-driver communication, and the lack of a centralized digital infrastructure. By creating an intuitive mobile application platform that helps people and companies efficiently request, monitor, and control the delivery of commodities, our research seeks to address these problems. While the specific goals center on analyzing the current delivery systems, designing and developing the mobile application, and assessing its performance through usability testing and user feedback, the main goal of the thesis is to create a comprehensive, effective, and accessible platform that satisfies the needs of the Ghanaian market. To accomplish these goals, a comprehensive evaluation of Ghana's current delivery methods was carried out in order to identify their advantages, disadvantages, and restrictions. Using the Extreme Programming (XP) technique, the mobile application was designed and developed using the insights obtained from this investigation. A flexible and iterative development process was made possible by this method, guaranteeing that the platform was user-centric and sensitive to input. To improve user experience and delivery efficiency, the platform offers features including real-time shipment tracking, smooth driver-user communication, optimal navigation, and push alerts. Users may easily plan deliveries and work with drivers due to the system's architecture, which prioritizes simplicity and utility. Comprehensive performance analysis and usability testing verified that the platform successfully achieved its primary and secondary goals. Compared to typical delivery services, the evaluation showed notable gains in user satisfaction, efficiency, and accessibility. The results show that by bridging the gap between traditional delivery networks and contemporary digital logistics solutions, this mobile-based solution has the potential to revolutionize Ghana's logistics sector. Future improvements like AI-powered route optimization, integration with regional payment systems, and sophisticated data analytics to further increase delivery efficiency are also made possible by the research. A well-designed mobile application can greatly improve the dependability, accessibility, and transparency of delivery services in Ghana while contributing to a more organized and technologically advanced transportation ecosystem. All things considered, this study effectively accomplishes its goals.
