Work environment of nurses in perioperative care

Abstract:

Pracovní prostředí sester v perioperační péči je velmi specifické, ovlivňováno několika faktory. Příznivé pracovní prostředí je velmi důležité z hlediska spokojenosti sester, ale i ošetřovatelské péče o pacienty. Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce bylo zjistit, jak sestry v perioperační péči hodnotí své pracovní prostředí prostřednictvím standardizovaného nástroje PES-NWI. Teoretická část je zaměřena na pracovní prostředí a faktory, které jej ovlivňují (pracovní zátěž, rizikové faktory při práci, pracovní podmínky, motivační faktory), na samotnou perioperační péči, její pracovní prostředí a v poslední řadě na problematiku hodnocení pracovního prostředí. V praktické části jsou zpracována data získaná od perioperačních sester a následné vyhodnocení jejich pracovního prostředí. U zkoumaného souboru sester bylo pracovní prostředí vyhodnoceno jako příznivé, nebyl zjištěn signifikantní rozdíl mezi hodnocení fakultní nemocnice a krajskými nemocnicemi. Hodnocení pracovního prostředí bylo ovlivněno věkem, vzděláním, typem operačních sálů i délkou klinické praxe. Výsledky této práce mohou být užitečnými pro management vybraných nemocnic. Pracovnímu prostředí sester v perioperační péči by mělo být věnováno více pozornosti. Bylo by vhodné provést další dlouhodobé výzkumy a na základě výsledků zajistit co nejpříznivější pracovní prostředí.

Abstract:

The working environment of nurses in perioperative care is very specific, influenced by several factors. A favorable working environment is very important in terms of nurses´ satisfaction, but also nursing care for patients. The main goal of the thesis was to find out how nurses in perioperative care evaluate their work environment through the standardized tool PES-NWI. The theoretical part is focused on the working environment and the factors that influence it (workload, risk factors at work, working conditions, motivational factors), on perioperative care itself, its working environment and lastly, on the issue of evaluating the working environment. In the practical part, the data obtained from perioperative nurses and the subsequent evaluation of their working environment are processed. The working environment was evaluated as favorable for the investigated group of nurses, no significant difference was found between the evaluation of the faculty hospital and the regional hospitals. The assessment of the working environment was influenced by age, education, type of operating theaters and length of clinical practice. The results of this work may be useful for the management of selected hospitals. More attention should be paid to the working environment of nurses in perioperative care. It would be advisable to carry out further long-term research and, based on the results, ensure the most favorable working environment.
