Contribution to the category of nonsense. With a focus on chosen theoretical and artistic expressions of 1960's and 1970's.

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce „Příspěvek ke kategorii nonsensu“ s podtitulem „Se zaměřením na vybrané teoretické a umělecké projevy 60. - 70. let 20. století“ nahlíží nonsens z několika úhlů. Pokouší se tak obhájit jeho estetickou platnost. První část je věnována historickému úvodu do problematiky. Analyzovány jsou texty Edwarda Leara, Lewise Carrolla a Christiana Morgensterna. Druhá část ospravedlňuje zájem o nesmysl jeho herní povahou. Následuje výklad Homo ludens Johana Huizingy. Rozbor typologie Rogera Cailloise slouží snaze postřehnout podobnosti nonsensu s principy her. Estetický dopad nonsensu v oblasti komična předurčuje další tematické pole práce. Zkoumání se odráží od Aristotelova výkladu komedie. Práce se zaměřuj na teorii smíchu a komična Henriho Bergsona. Poslední kapitola oddílu zpracovává „Anatomii gagu“ Václava Havla. Poznámkami Olega Suse k fenoménu nonsensu se zabývá čtvrtý oddíl práce. Rozebírá zejména Susovy pojmy: „bezpředmětná“ jazyková komika a případkové absurdno. Odbočku tvoří úvaha G. K. Chestertona o údivu z nesmyslna. Oddíl je uzavřen zmínkou o Susově kritickém vlivu na novou vlnu moderní satiry 60. let 20. století. Směrem k definici kráčí její pátá část. Odhaluje také tezi Wima Tiggese o možnostech nonsensu komunikovat. Poslední oddíl hledá prvky bláznovství nejprve v karnevalové kultuře. Odhaluje hodnotu bláznovství v souvislosti s Chválou Bláznovství Erasma Rotterdamského. Zkoumání pokračuje analýzou textů komické dvojice Vodňanský a Skoumal. V posledku se práce zabývá možností politické funkce nonsensu.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis “Contribution to the category of nonsense” with subtitle “With a focus on chosen theoretical and artistic expressions of 1960's and 1970's” is looking at nonsense from several angles. It is trying to defend its aesthetical validity. The first part is devoted to the historical introduction into the issues. The texts of Edward Lear, Lewis Carroll and Christian Morgenstern are analysed. The second part justifies the interest in nonsense by its playful nature. It is continued by the interpretation of Homo Ludens by Johan Huizinga. The typology analysis of Roger Caillois is used in the effort to notice the similarities of nonsense with game principles. The aesthetic impact of nonsense in the comical area predetermines other thematic field of this work. The research is focused on the theory of laughter and comedy of Henri Bergson. The last chapter of this unit is processing the Anatomy of Gag by Vaclav Havel. The fourth unit of this work is dealing with the remarks to the phenomenon of nonsense by Oleg Sus. It analyses Sus’s ideas: “pointless” linguistic comic and accidental absurdity. The diversion is created by G.K. Cheterton’s deliberation about the wonder from nonsense. The unit is closed by the reference about Sus’s critical influence on the new wave of modern satire 1960’s. In the direction of definition is striding its fifth section. Also, it is revealing the thesis of Wim Tigges about the possibilities of nonsense to communicate. The last unit is initially looking for the elements of foolishness in the carnival culture. It reveals the value of foolishness in the context with The Praise of Folly by Erasmus of Rotterdam. The inquiring continues by text analysis of comic couple Vodnansky and Skoumal. In the last part, the thesis deals with the possibility of political function of nonsense.
