Production and quality of sheep wool

Abstract:

Hlavními oblastmi, kterými se práce zabývá jsou postavení ovčí vlny nejen na světovém trhu, ale i u nás v České republice, poté určování kvality a jak můžeme vlnu využívat. Z dostupných literárních zdrojů bylo zjištěno, že význam vlny celosvětově klesá a v posledních letech pokles ovlivnila covidová pandemie, během ní cena vlny v České republice klesla až o 1/3. I přesto je vlna významnou surovinou v textilním průmyslu a nyní po pandemii má tendence znovu vzkvétat. Z výsledků, co se kvality týče, bylo zjištěno, že kvalitu vlny ovlivňuje věk, pohlaví, zdravotní stav, kvalita stříže, ustájení, výživa, a to především bílkoviny obsažené v krmivu, které mají vliv na délku, hustotu, tažnost, ale také lesk. Poslední faktor, ovlivňující kvalitu je plemeno a nejkvalitnější vlnu mají ovce merino. Nejdůležitějšími ukazateli kvality ovčí vlny jsou jemnost, ta ovlivňuje tržní cenu a textilní využití poté barva a pevnost, která udává sílu potřebnou k přetržení vlákna. Ovčí vlna nachází své využití ve stavebnictví, farmaceutickém a textilním průmyslu.

Abstract:

The main areas covered by the thesis are the position of sheep wool not only on the world market, but also in the Czech Republic, then determination of quality and how we can use wool. From the available literature, it was found that the importance of the sheep wool is declining worldwide and the covid pandemic has been declining in recent years, during which the prices of wool in the Czech Republic have fallen by as much as 1/3.Despite this, wool is an important raw material in the textile industry and now after a pandemic it has a tendency to flourish again. From the results in terms of quality, it was found that the quality of wool is influenced by age, sex, health status, quality of the staple, housing, nutrition, especially proteins contained in the feed, which affect the length, density, elasticity, but also shine. The last factor influencing the quality is the breed, and the merino sheep have the highest quality wool. The most important indicators of the quality of sheep wool are softness, which influences the market price, and textile use then colour and strength, which indicates the strength needed to break the fibre. Sheep wool finds its use in the construction, pharmaceutical and textile industries.
