Evaluation of households financial health and education in the Ústí Region in connection with COVID-19

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na výzkum finanční gramotnosti a analýzu finančního zdraví domácností Ústeckého kraje v souvislosti s dopady pandemické krize, která byla způsobena virem Covid-19. Cílem práce bylo vyhodnocení finanční gramotnosti a výzkum vybraných domácností, které byly v důsledku pandemie ohroženy na jejich finančním zdraví. Vyhodnocení finanční gramotnosti vzniklo na základě dat, získaných z dotazníkového šetření. Výsledky dotazníkového šetření ukazují, že sledovaná skupina respondentů dosahuje vyšší míry finančního vzdělání. V druhé části byly realizovány hloubkové rozhovory, které u vybraných domácností přibližují příčiny zhoršeného finančního zdraví. Na základě získaných poznatků z jednotlivých rozhovorů, byla vypracována doporučení a možnosti řešení daných situací. V souvislosti s cílem práce byl zkoumán vliv finanční gramotnosti na tvorbu finančních rezerv a dopad pandemické krize na finanční zdraví domácností. Výsledky neprokázaly vliv dosažené úrovně finanční gramotnosti na negativní dopad finančního zdraví domácnosti v souvislosti s pandemickou krizí. Vyšší úroveň finanční gramotnosti prokázala pozitivní vliv na tvorbu finančních rezerv. Vyhodnocení těchto dat probíhalo prostřednictvím regresního modelu Probit. Hlavní přidanou hodnotou bakalářské práce je tedy vyhodnocení finančního zdraví a gramotnosti domácností z kvantitativního i kvalitativního pohledu a zároveň obsahuje konceptuální návrh mobilní aplikace, která využívá principů gamifikace a finančních technologií.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the research of financial literacy and analysis of financial health of households in the Ústí region in the context of the impact of the pandemic crisis caused by the Covid-19 virus.The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the financial literacy and research of selected households that were threatened by the pandemic on their financial health. The evaluation of financial literacy was based on data collected from a questionnaire survey. The results of the questionnaire survey show that the respondent group has a higher level of financial literacy. In the second part of the study, in-depth interviews were conducted to provide insight into the causes of deteriorating financial health in selected households. Based on the insights gained from the individual interviews, recommendations and options were developed to address the situations. In the context of the objective of the thesis, the impact of financial literacy on financial provisioning and the impact of the pandemic crisis on household financial health was investigated. The results did not show an effect of the level of financial literacy on the negative impact of household financial health. Higher levels of financial literacy showed a positive effect on financial reserve formation. The evaluation of these data was done through a Probit regression model. Thus, the main added value of the Bachelor's thesis is the evaluation of household financial health and literacy from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives, and it also includes the conceptual design of a mobile application that uses gamification and financial technology principles.
