Erasmus Programme and its contribution to students' second language competence

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá výměnným programem Erasmus, který poskytuje studentům možnost studia v zahraničí. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda absolvování programu Erasmus skutečně vede ke zlepšení jazykových dovedností studentů a do jaké míry k tomuto zlepšení dochází. Práce je logicky rozdělena na dvě části. První část je zaměřena na vytvoření teoretického přehledu o možnostech studia v zahrničí. Druhá část práce se následně zabývá vyhodnocením dotazníkového šetření zaměřeného na jazykové kompetence studentů a analýzy zpráv studentů absolvujících program Erasmus, jakožto sekundárního zdroje volně dostupného z internetu. Výsledky z těchto analýz byly použity pro vytvoření kompetentních závěrů na téma Erasmus a jeho vliv na zlepšení jazykových kompetencí studentů.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the Erasmus exchange programme as an opportunity to study at a university abraod. The aim of the thesis is to find out if the completion of the Erasmus programme does in fact lead to the improvement in student?s language skills. If this is indeed the case, to what extent the improvements are helping the students. The thesis is logically divided into two parts. The first one is focused on the theoretical overview of student possibilities of studying abroad. The second part deals with the evaluation of the survey-based explorative research project focused on students? language competence and the analysis of Erasmus students reports, as the derived source free available from the internet. Results of mentioned analyses were used for drawing the competent conslusions about the Erasmus program and its contributions to the student?s second language competence.
