The Use of Foreign Words in the Field of Gastronomy: the Case of "El Comidista"

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je analyzovat slova cizího původu, která se vyskytují ve španělském lexiku v oblasti gastronomie, a to konkrétně na webové stránce El Comidista. Práce je rozdělena do dvou hlavních částí - teoretické a praktické. V části první, tedy teoretické, jsme se zabývali historií, a především vývojem španělské slovní zásoby. Zaměřili jsme se na jazyky cizího původu, které měly zásadní vliv na její vývoj. Dále jsme věnovali pozornost terminologii, která souvisí s touto problematikou. Objasnili jsme pojmy jako výpůjčky a jejich jednotlivé kategorie, cizí slova, jejich podkategorie a xenismy. V části praktické jsme vytvořili glosář obsahující cizí slova z oblasti gastronomie, která se nachází v receptech a článcích na webové stránce El Comidista. Cizí slova jsme analyzovali a doplnili komentáři týkajícími se tvorby plurálu, rodu, jejich ekvivalentů a užití. V závěru jsme zjistili, které jazyky představují pro španělštinu největší zdroj cizích slov v oblasti gastronomie.

Abstract:

The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to analyse foreign words which can be found in Spanish vocabulary in the field of gastronomy, concretely in the case of 'El Comidista'. The thesis is divided into two main parts - the theorical and the practical. In the first part, the theorical one, we dealt with the history and, especially, the evolution of the Spanish vocabulary. We focused on foreign languages that had a crucial impact on its evolution. Next, we paid attention to the terminology which relates to these matters. We explained concepts such as loanwords and its categories, foreign words, their subcategories and xenisms. In the practical part we formed a glossary which includes foreign words from the field of gastronomy that are found on the website El Comidista. We analysed the foreign words and added comments related to the creation of plural forms, gender, their equivalents, and their usage. In the end we found out which languages represent the biggest acquisition of foreign words for Spanish in the field of gastronomy.
