Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje studiu motivů, které jsou typiké pro díla E.A.Poe, a to jak v próze tak v poezii. Jmenovitě se jedná o otázky šílenství, nadpřirozenosti, násilí a smrti. První kapitola se zabývá kontextovým zařazením autora; seznámí čtenáře s romantickými prvky, které se objevují v Poeově fikci a také objasní, proč je tento autor zařazován do okruhu gotických spisovatelů. This bachelor thesis is devoted to the study of themes which are typical for E.A.Poe?s prose and poetry, namely the questions of madness, the supernatural, violence and death. The first chapter concentrates on placing Poe into a literary context; the reader will be presented with the observations of what Romantic features Poe used in his fiction.
