Abstract:
This diploma thesis focuses on the connections between the deities introduced in The Sil-marillion and characters from Greek and Norse mythology, as well as themes from the Bible. Classics, Norse mythology and Christianity each played a role in both the life of J.R.R. Tolkien and the historical development of England.
