Perception of Menstruation and Physiological Cycle of Contemporary Women

Abstract:

Menstruace je nedílnou součástí života každé ženy. Vyjadřuje ženskost, plodnost, a především zdraví ženy. V minulosti byla u žen brána jako zlo, byla tabuizována a tento pohled z části přetrvává i dodnes. Menstruační cyklus znázorňuje souhru mezi tělem, myslí a energií. Hormonální regulace dočasně přerušuje přirozený cyklus ženy a znemožňuje jí tak pochopit a sžít se se svým tělem. Tato bakalářská práce se právě menstruací a fyziologickým cyklem zabývá. Je rozdělená na dvě části, a to teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části je nastíněn historický aspekt vnímání ženského cyklu, vývojové fáze života ženy, dále somato-psycho-spirituální aspekty cyklu a rituály s vazbou na přirozený cyklus. Dále se práce zabývá vývojem a anatomií ženských reprodukčních orgánů a fyziologií menstruačního cyklu. Práce se také zaměřuje na nepravidelnosti menstruačního cyklu a na oblast psychosomatiky v gynekologii. V neposlední řadě je zde krátce nastíněna podstata hormonální regulace menstruačního cyklu. Praktická část je zpracovaná pomocí kvalitativní metody. Interpretuje rozhovory se současnými ženami, jejich vnímání, pocity a pohled na danou problematiku. To, jak ženy chápou a přistupují ke svému fyziologickému cyklu může výrazně ovlivnit nejen jejich potencionální mateřství, ale i myšlení, vnímání, výkonnost, soustředění a vytrvalost. Změna přístupu a vnímání menstruace a fyziologického cyklu by pak mohla ovlivnit budoucnost další generace.

Abstract:

Menstruation is an important part of women´s life. Menstruation means femininity, fertility and particulary women´s health. In the past menstruation was considered as evil, it was taboo and this perspective continues up to the present. Menstruation cycle shows how the body, the mind and energy are connected. The hormonal regulation temporarily interupts the physiological cycle of a women and disables the understanding and cohabitation with her body. This bachelor thesis deals with menstruation and physiological cycle. The thesis is divided into two parts, theretical and practical part. The theoretical part aims at historical aspect of understanding the female cycle, development phases of female life, somatic – social – spiritual aspects of the female cycle and rituals conected with the physiological cycle. The next topic of this thesis is anatomy of female reproductiv organs and physiology of menstruation cycle. The thesis also aims irregularity of menstruation cycle and part of psychosomatics and gynecology. Last but not least is the basic information about hormonal regulation of menstruation mentioned. The practical part it is processed by qualitative method. This part interprets interviews with present females, their understanding, feelings, and opinion on the issue. The way how women understand and approach their physiological cycle, can strongly influence their potential maternity as well as their thinking, perception, productivity, concentration and resistance. The way of thinking and undertand our menstruation and physiological cycle should influence the future generation.
