Causal Mechanisms of Democratic Peace Theory

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce „Kauzální mechanismy teorie demokratického míru“ je identifikace hlavních kauzálních mechanismů, které teoretická literatura nabízí, popsat jejich fungování, komparovat je a postihnout vývoj celé diskuse o kauzálních mechanismech demokratického míru v čase. První část práce se věnuje teoretickým konceptům a východiskům, z nichž práce vychází, konkrétně teorii demokratického míru a kauzalitě. V empirické části dochází formou literární rešerše k identifikaci hlavních kauzálních mechanismů demokratického míru, komparaci a teoretickému zařazení k jednotlivým konceptům kauzálních mechanismů, jak je prezentuje odborná literatura zabývající se kauzalitou a kauzálním vysvětlením. Současně je v rámci analýzy a komparace odborných textů postižen vývoj diskuse o kauzálních mechanismech v čase.

Abstract:

The goal of the submitted thesis: “Causal Mechanisms of Democratic Peace Theory” is to identify main causal mechanisms offered by professional literature, describe its functioning and compere how they are described by different authors. Finally, this thesis will cover discussion about causal mechanisms in time. First part of the thesis is dedicated to examining theoretical concepts essential to the research, which is the Democratic Peace Theory and causation. Empirical part of the thesis is in a form of a literature review. Main causal mechanisms of democratic peace are identified, compared and theoretically assigned to causal mechanism definition as it presents professional literature about causation and causal explanation. In the same time by analyzing and comparing the literature, the whole discussion and its development about causal mechanisms is analyzed and presented in the thesis.
