Realistic elements in absurdist theatre of Václav Havel by the example of the play and the film "Leaving"

Abstract:

Předmětem této bakalářské práce je analýza inscenace a filmu Odcházení a následné hledání podobných inscenačních postupů a principů, které lze v rámci absurdního divadla Václava Havla aplikovat na oba dva příklady. Zároveň si práce klade za cíl přiblížit se samotné podstatě a smyslu absurdního divadla jako takového. Osobnost Václava Havla je klíčem k celé problematice, a to proto, že jeho životní situace v mnohém ovlivnily jeho tvorbu. Práce nese název Realistické prvky v absurdním divadle Václava Havla na příkladu inscenace a filmu Odcházení. Oněmi realistickými prvky chápejme společenskou, kulturní a politickou situaci českého národa, která se nepřímo odrážela v jeho díle. Na základě poznatků o absurdním divadle se bakalářská práce zaměřuje na střet „realistična“ a absurdna u Havlova Odcházení. V závěru poukazuje na možnosti interpretace absurdního divadla Václava Havla. První část je zaměřena na pojem absurdní drama v celosvětovém kontextu, na osobnost Václava Havla a na společenskohistorické kontexty. V druhé půli se věnuje podrobnému rozboru samotného textu, inscenaci Davida Radoka v divadle Archa a filmu, na kterém se snažím aplikovat poznatky vyplývající z části první. V poslední kapitole nazvané Komparace, se práce snaží spojením obou částí porovnat možnosti uvádění Havlova absurdního dramatu.

Abstract:

The subject of this thesis is an analysis of the performance and the film Leaving and a subsequent search for similar staging procedures and principles, which can be in terms of Václav Havel’s absurd theatre applied to both examples. At the same time the work aims to bring the very essence and meaning of the absurd theatre. Václav Havel is the key to the whole issue and it is mainly because of his living situation which influenced his work in many ways. The work is called Realistic elements in absurd theatre. We should understand these realistic elements as the social, cultural and political situation of the nation, on which Havel mattered and that is indirectly reflected in his work. According to the findings of the absurd theatre the thesis focuses on the conflict between reality and absurdity of Václav Havel’s Leaving. The conclusion refers to the possibilities of interpretation of Vaclav Havel’s absurd theatre. The first part is focused on the concept of absurd drama in a global context, the personality of Václav Havel, social and historical contexts. The second half is devoted to a detailed analysis of the text itself, a production of David Radok at the Archa theater and the film, in which I try to apply the lessons of the first part. In the last chapter, which is called Comparison, the work tries to compare the combination of the two parts of the placing possibilities of Havel's absurdist drama.
