Quality of Life of Children with stoma

Abstract:

Aim: Establishment of stoma means for most patients a radical change in their previously used lifestyle. In the initial period, the life of the stomach is not easy. The main objective of the work was to find out how the children evaluate subjectively the quality of life with stomies in the field of physical functions, psychological functions, social issues and school issues. Assessing the quality of life in this area is very important in order to assess how the stomach affects the child's life. Methodology: The research was carried out between January 2018 and March 2018 in the Kysuca hospital with a policlinic in Chad and with the help of a non-profit organization. A quantitative method of data collection was used using the PedsQLTM 4.0 Generic Core Scales standardized questionnaire, supplemented by demographic data. Each questionnaire was accompanied by an informed consent that the child's legal guardian had to sign. Data obtained through a questionnaire survey was processed in the Microsoft Excel computer program using individual mathematical functions and Data Analysis (descriptive statistics, f-test, t-test). Results: The results show that the worst is the quality of life in the area of psychological functions and the quality of life in the area of schooling is best evaluated. In the subjective assessment of the quality of life, there is no gender, school, or residence difference, and there is no difference in the length of life with the stoma. In relation to an associated or non-associated other disease, a statistically significant relationship was demonstrated in physical functions and in school issues, yet in the overall score, the p-value did not confirm a statistically significant relationship. Conclusion: By comparing the results with other studies and available literature, it can be concluded that children with stomies perceive quality of life similarly in all groups compared to us and abroad.

Cieľ: Založenie stómie znamená pre väčšinu pacientov radikálnu zmenu v ich doposiaľ zaužívanom životnom štýle. V počiatočnom období život stomika nie je jednoduchý. Hlavným cieľom práce bolo zistiť ako deti subjektívne hodnotia kvalitu života so stómiou v oblasti fyzických funkcií, v oblasti psychických funkcií, v oblasti sociálnej problematiky a školskej problematiky. Hodnotenie kvality života v tejto oblasti je veľmi dôležité, aby sme mohli posúdiť ako veľmi stómia ovplyvňuje život dieťaťa. Metodika: Výskumné šetrenie prebehlo v období od januára 2018 do marca 2018 v Kysuckej nemocnici s poliklinikou v Čadci a za pomoci neziskových organizácii. Bola použitá kvantitatívna metóda zberu dát prostredníctvom štandardizovaného dotazníka PedsQLTM 4.0 Generic Core Scales, ktorý bol doplnený o demografické údaje. Ku každému dotazníku bol priložený informovaný súhlas, ktorý musel podpísať zákonný zástupca dieťaťa. Dáta získane prostredníctvom dotazníkového šetrenia boli spracované v počítačovom programe Microsoft Excel za pomoci jednotlivých matematických funkcií a funkcie Analýza dát (popisná štatistika, f-test, t-test). Výsledky: Z výsledkov vyplýva, že najhoršie je hodnotená kvalita života v oblasti psychických funkcií a najlepšie je hodnotená kvalita života v oblasti školskej problematiky. V subjektívnom hodnotení kvality života neexistuje rozdiel medzi pohlavím, školou, bydliskom a taktiež neexistuje rozdiel ani v súvislosti s dĺžkou života so stómiou. V súvislosti s pridruženým alebo bez pridruženého iného ochorenia bol štatisticky významný vzťah preukázaný v oblasti fyzických funkcií a v oblasti školskej problematiky no napriek tomu v celkovom skóre p-hodnota nepotvrdila štatisticky významný vzťah. Záver: Porovnaním výsledkov s inými štúdiami a dostupnou literatúrou môžem usúdiť, že deti so stómiou vnímajú kvalitu života podobne vo všetkých porovnávaných skupinách ako u nás tak aj v zahraničí.
