Determinants of electronic data interchange adoption

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá problematikou výměny dokumentů u českých podniků působících v odvětví retailu. Cílem práce je identifikovat determinanty adopce elektronické výměny dat (EDI) a následně vytvořit obecný model adopce EDI, který by reflektoval podmínky specifické pro Českou republiku a pro konkrétní odvětví. Práce propojuje objektivní i subjektivní aspekty adopce EDI a vychází z několika primárních šetření, jež probíhala v letech 2013 až 2017. Za pomocí binární logistické regrese (logit) je poté určen směr působení a je kvantifikován vliv jednotlivých faktorů adopce. Klíčové faktory, tedy determinanty adopce, následně vstupují do konstrukce navrženého modelu, který rozšiřuje stávající teorie adopce EDI o vybrané proměnné. Rovněž kombinuje více teoretických přístupů k zavádění technologie a ověřuje jejich platnost pro podmínky českých podniků, čímž je tato studie ojedinělá.

Abstract:

The dissertation is concerned with the issue of document exchange in Czech companies, operating in the retail sector. The aim of the paper is to identify determinants of electronic data interchange (EDI) adoption and then to create a general model of adoption of EDI that would reflect the conditions specific for Czech Republic and for the specific sector. The paper connects objective and subjective aspects of EDI adoption and is based on multiple primary surveys that took place from 2013 to 2017. Using a binary logistic regression (logit), the course of action is then determined and the influence of individual factors of adoption is quantified. The key factors (determinants), are then an input into the construction of the proposed model which extends the existing theories of adoption of EDI with the selected variables. It also combines multiple theoretical approaches to implementing the technology and verifies their validity for the conditions of Czech businesses, which makes this study unique.
