Horizontal Europeanization: Application of the concept of europeanization on its horizontal form

Abstract:

Cílem práce je rozpracování teoretického ukotvení konceptu evropeizace v jeho tzv. horizontální podobě. V první části bude definována samotná horizontální evropeizace, a to na základě stávajícího výzkumu, kdy cílem bude definovat základní zákonitosti tohoto konceptu a jeho specifika. Druhá část se bude věnovat rozlišování pravé a nepravé horizontální evropeizace, a to se zaměřením na cyklickou evropeizaci a otázku přítomnosti unijních institucí jako distinkčního znaku. Cílem poslední části práce potom bude vztažení v první části definovaného konceptu horizontální evropeizace k obecnému pojetí evropeizace tak, jak je pojímána v literatuře. Tato část tedy bude komparovat jednotlivá tvrzení, týkající se evropeizace obecně, s definicí horizontální evropeizace, což povede k potvrzení či vyvrácení skutečného obecného charakteru těchto tvrzení, a tedy k zjištění, ve kterých aspektech je koncept evropeizace dostatečně aplikovatelný i na problematiku horizontální evropeizace.

Abstract:

The goal of this thesis is to elaborate the theoretical basis of the concept of Europeanization in its so-called horizontal form. In the first part will be defined the horizontal Europeanization itself on the basis of the current research, the aim will be to define the basic principles of this concept and its specifics. The second part will engage in distinguishing true and false horizontal Europeanization with a focus on cyclical Europeanization and the question of the presence of the European institutions as a distinctive feature. The goal of the last part then will be to relate the concept of horizontal Europeanization defined in the first part on the general concept of Europeanization as understood in literature. This section will therefore compare particular statements concerning general Europeanization with the definition of horizontal Europeanization, which will lead to the confirmation or disproval of the actual nature of these statements and therefore to determination in which aspects is the concept of Europeanization sufficiently applicable to the issue of the horizontal Europeanization.
