Anotácia:

Předmětem této bakalářské práce je cihlové, raně křesťanské Lateránské baptisterium, které se nachází severozápadně od apsidy San Giovanni in Laterano v Římě. Tato práce konkrétně prozkoumává zásadní architektonické otázky vyvstávající ze studia této struktury, a to hlavně ve vztahu k samotné dataci stavby, její možné podobě ve 4. a 5. století a rekonstrukci křestní liturgie v téže době. Po shromáždění závěrů předešlých badatelů a jejich kritickém vyhodnocení byly pro objasnění některých otázek přezkoumány, mimo jiné, primární prameny ve vztahu k relevantním závěrům, nebo byla použita formální komparativní analýza příbuzných struktur.

Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor thesis is the Early Christian, brick Lateran Baptistery, located northwest of the apse of San Giovanni in Laterano in Rome. Specifically, this thesis will explore the crucial architectural questions arising when studying this structure, particularly concerning the dating of the structure itself, its possible appearance in the 4th and 5th centuries, and the reconstruction of the baptismal liturgy at the same time. After gathering the conclusions of previous researchers and critically evaluating them, primary sources were reviewed for relevant findings, or a formal comparative analysis of related structures was applied to clarify some of the issues, among others.
