Funeral architecture and burial custom of the Pre-Palace period. With reference to Messara plain and the cemetery of Phourni

Abstract:

Má Bakalářská diplomová práce je zaměřena na před-palácové období a funerální architektonické formy této fáze. Pojednává také o pohřebních zvycích tohoto období a problematice spojené s konstrukcí raných tholů na Messarské pláni.Oblastně se pak zaměřuje právě na oblast Messary a pohřebiště Furni, na kterém jsou zastoupeny tyto ranně mínojské tholy. Další architektonickou funerální stavbou na něž je tato práce zaměřena jsou pravoúhlé typy hrobek, které měly někdy funkci kostnice. V souvislosti s nimi poté hovořím o problematice prostoru v hrobkách.

Abstract:

My Bachelor work focuses on the Pre-Palace period and funeral architectural forms of this phase. I talk about the burial custom and problems of the reconststruction of tholoi tombs in Messara plain that the work refers to. I also talk about the cemetery of Phourni and the tholos E and C that belongs of the early tholoi group of the Messara type. Another architectural form in this work are rectangular tombs that had sometimes a function of ossuaries. We will also see examples of them at the cemetery of Phourni mentioned above.
