An impact of ethnicity on willingness to provide the altruistic act

Abstract:

Altruismus přináší prospěch jeho příjemci a zároveň určité náklady dárci. Cílem mé bakalářské práce je pomocí terénního experimentu, který probíhal na čtyřech vysokých školách zjistit, zda faktory pohlaví, etnika a nákladů spojených s poskytnutím altruistického skutku ovlivní vysokoškolské studenty k poskytnutí pomoci studentům středních škol. V této bakalářské práci byly využity poznatky výzkumů zaměřených na diskriminaci prováděných jak v České republice, tak i v zahraničí. Výsledky mého výzkumu v rámci bakalářské práce jsou vyhodnocovány pomocí kvantitativní analýzy dat, konkrétně pomocí testu nezávislosti. Provedením výzkumu jsem zjistila, že míra, s jakou studenti pomáhají, se neliší v závislosti na rase, pohlaví či nákladech spojených s poskytnutím pomoci.

Abstract:

Prosocial behaviour benefits the receiver but it costs the individual displaying the behaviour time when they help the receiver. The aim of my baccalaureate independent study was to conduct a field experiment at 4 universities. I investigated whether the following factors affect prosocial behaviour from University students to high school students: gender, ethnicity and the cost of displaying such behaviour. My investigation was based around my knowledge and understanding of similar experiments which were previously conducted to investigate discrimination. These experiments were not just carried out in Czech Republic but abroad too. The results and data from my experiment are evaluated using quantitative analysis based on the tests of independence. At the end of my investigation from my results I could see that there was no clear correlation between the extent to which university students were willing to help and my factors of race, ethnicity and the cost of displaying prosocial behaviour.
