Status of the Kurds in Turkey

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá postavením kurdské minority v Turecku. Jejím cílem je komplexně zhodnotit situaci Kurdů žijících na území Turecka, zanalyzovat její proměny a identifikovat faktory, které ji ovlivňují. V první části práce je stanoven objekt a předmět výzkumu, vytýčení konkrétních cílů a položení výzkumných otázek, představení metodologie výzkumu a charakteristika informačních zdrojů. Druhá část práce vymezuje teoretický rámec výzkumu sestavený z indikátorů postavení etnických menšin v rámci státu. Třetí část práce se věnuje analýze postavení tureckých Kurdů, čemuž předchází celková charakteristika kurdské populace. Hlavní kapitoly jsou zaměřeny na politické aktivity příslušníků kurdského etnika, politicko-ekonomické cíle Turecka ovlivňující postavení Kurdů a na lingvistická práva kurdské menšiny. Závěr práce obsahuje syntézu získaných poznatků a nastínění perspektiv dalšího vývoje.

Abstract:

This thesis is concerned with the status of the Kurdish minority in Turkey. Its aim is to perform a comprehensive evaluation of the situation of Kurds living in Turkey as well as analyze the changes in their status and identify the factors that affect it. In the first part of this thesis the subject and object of research are determined, the particular goals and the research questions are set out, the methodology of research is explained and the information sources are characterized. In the second part of my thesis I define the theoretical framework which includes the indicators of the status of ethnic minorities within the state. The third part of the thesis contains the analysis of the status of the Kurds in Turkey, but also the comprehensive characteristic of Kurdish population. The main chapters of this thesis are focused on the political activities of Turkish Kurds, Turkish political and economic objectives affecting the status of Kurds and the Kurdish minority linguistic rights. The conclusion includes a synthesis of findings and outlined prospects for future development.
