Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá významem půdy pro původní obyvatele Austrálie a zkoumá jejich jedinečný vztah k ní. Cílem práce je dokázat, že oproti převažujícímu “západnímu” pojetí půdy zejména jako hmotného statku a ekonomického zdroje, mají Aboriginci k půdě hluboký spirituální vztah, který utváří jejich identitu a dává jim pocit sounáležitosti. Zdroj tohoto unikátního vztahu pramení z náboženských představ Aboriginců, podle kterých Aboriginci sdílejí stejnou podstatu s ostatními živými tvory a se zemí. V bájné době snění stvořili první bytosti lidi, veškeré živočišné a rostlinné druhy a krajinu. Krajina je projevem tohoto bájného stvoření a v určitém smyslu je tedy zobrazením historie Aboriginců. Je naplněna spirituální esencí prvních tvořivých bytostí a je tudíž vnímána jako posvátná. Jako příklad toho, jak vztah Aboriginců k půdě proniká všemi oblastmi jejich života, pojednává tato práce o umění Aboriginců. Umění bylo nedílnou součástí každodenního života Aboriginců. Bylo úzce spojeno s jejich náboženskými představami a přesahovalo tedy svou čistě estetickou funkci. Jeskynní umění mohlo například sloužit jako prohlášení vlastnického práva k danému místu. Malbou vyjadřovali umělci původních obyvatel svou identitu a potvrzovali svůj vztah k dědičné půdě.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the meaning of land to Aboriginal people and explores the Aboriginal unique relationship with the land. It argues that opposed to the prevailing “Western” perception of the land mainly as a material object and an economic resource, Aboriginal people have a profound spiritual connection to the land which gives them their identity and a sense of belonging. The source of this unique relationship lies in Aboriginal religious beliefs, according to which Aborigines share the same spirit with other living species and the land. In the mythic time of Dreaming the ancestor beings created people, all living species and natural features of the landscape. Therefore, the landscape is a manifestation of the mythic creation and a kind of a record of Aboriginal origins. Moreover, it is imbued with the spiritual essence of the ancestral beings and as such, it is perceived as sacred. As an example of how the relationship with the land permeates all spheres of Aboriginal life, the thesis discusses Aboriginal art. Art was an integral part of everyday life of the Aborigines. It was closely connected with Aboriginal spiritual beliefs and as such, transcended its purely aesthetic function. For instance, rock art served as an assertion of the ownership of the site against the European settlers. Through painting, Aboriginal artists expressed their identity and affirmed their connection with the tribal lands.
