The Impact of the Organisational Structure and the Organisational Culture on the Effectiveness of Internal Communication

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je zhodnotit vliv organizační kultury a organizační struktury na efektivnost interní komunikace. Teoretická část se věnuje významu interní komunikace pro organizace. Z dostupné literatury jsou extrahovány nejčastěji zmiňované faktory či předpoklady efektivnosti interní komunikace. V dalších kapitolách jsou vyjasněny základní pojmy a koncepty z oblasti organizační kultury a struktury s důrazem na jejich vlastnosti, ovlivňující faktory efektivní interní komunikace. V metodologické části je popsána struktura výzkumu, způsob sběru a analýzy dat, jež jsou založeny na kvalitativní výzkumné strategii. Výzkumnými nástroji jsou za účelem triangulace polostandardizované rozhovory, zúčastněné pozorování a analýza dokumentů. Empirická část zjišťuje, jak ovlivňuje konkrétní organizační struktura a kultura svými rysy efektivnost interní komunikace ve velkém výrobním podniku a do jaké míry je tamní komunikace efektivní. Na základě výsledků výzkumu jsou organizaci v závěru předložena doporučení, jak efektivnost její interní komunikace zvýšit.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis it to evaluate the impact of the organizational culture and the organizational structure on the effectiveness of the internal communication. Theoretical part deals with the value of internal communication for organizations. The most common factors or assumptions of the effecive internal communication are extracted from the relevant literature. Other chapters explain the basic terms and concepts in the field of organizational culture and structure with emphasis on the features affecting the effective internal communication.The metodology section describes the structure of the research, metods of data collection and analysis, which are based on qualitative research strategy. Because of the triangulation the tools used are semi-standardized interviews, participaiting observation and document analysis. The empirical part investigates how one particular organizational structure and culture with their characteristics impact the effectiveness of internal communication in a large manufacturing company. Furthemore, it investigates the extent to which the local communication is effective. Based on the research results at the end there are some recommendations for the company on how the effectiveness of the internal communication could be increased.
