The Translation of Selected Texts Related to Business English with a Commentary and Glossary

Abstract:

This Bachelor´s Thesis submits a more detailed look into the process of translation. It approaches the translation from both a theoretical and a practical point of view. The theoretical part comprises the closer view of the translation procedure, translator´s approach and other theoretical issues concerning the translation. The practical part includes the exact translation of business texts related to the same topic (a British well-known retail company Marks & Spencer) and it also includes the commentary part where the practice is applied on the basis of previous theoretical research. The glossary is attached at the end of all translated texts so as to make it easier to search for the various business and other terms.

Abstract:

Tato Bakalářská práce z oblasti překladových studií předkládá detailnější pohled na proces překladu zejména v anglickém jazyce. Bakalářská práce přistupuje k překladu jak z hlediska teoretického, tak z hlediska praktického. Teoretická část zaujímá bližší pohled na překladatelský proces, přístup překladatelův a jiné teoretické záležitosti, které se překladu týkají. Praktická část obsahuje samotný překlad obchodních textů, které se týkají jednoho tématu (britské maloobchodní společnosti Marks & Spencer), a zahrnuje také komentáře, kde je uplatněna praxe na základě předešlého teoretického zkoumání. Glosáře jsou připojeny na konci každého přeloženého textu a sestávají z několika vybraných obchodních či jiných termínů.
