Transformation of Kitsch to Work of Art

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce ,,Transformace kýče v umělecké dílo“ se zabývá kýčem v umělecké tvorbě. Rozebírá myšlenky a postřehy jednotlivých autorů k problematice kýče především ve výtvarném umění. Zkoumá vznik kýče a jeho propojení s uměním padesátých a šedesátých let, zejména s pop artem. Detailněji se zaměřuje na stěžejní představitele tohoto stylu, kteří svými díly a idejemi ovlivnili postmoderní umění – Andyho Warhola, Roye Lichtensteina a další. Cílem práce je lepší porozumění fenoménu kýče a ozřejmění faktu za jakých okolností se i kýč může stát uměleckým dílem.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis “Transformation of Kitsch to Work of Art” deals with kitsch in art. It analyzes the thoughts and perceptions of authors to the issue of kitsch, mainly in the fine arts. Furthermore, the emergence of kitsch and its interconnection with the art of the fifties and sixties is being examined, especially with pop art. It focuses on the main representatives of this style, who influenced the postmodern art – Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and others. The aim of this thesis is to provide the readers with better understanding of the phenomenon of kitsch and explanation in what circumstances can even the kitsch become a work of art.
