Application of Hedge Accounting under IFRS 9 on SMEs in Slovak Republic

Abstract:

Cieľom diplomovej práce je analyzovať slovenské podnikateľské prostredie so zameraním sa na využitie zabezpečovacieho účtovníctva podľa IFRS 9 v malých a stredných podni-koch, a odporučenie vhodnej zabezpečovacej stratégie vybranej spoločnosti. Práca sa zame-riava na zabezpečovacie účtovníctvo podľa nového štandardu IFRS 9. Predmetom zabez-pečovacej stratégie je zabezpečenie peňažných tokov z budúceho nákupu mede obchodo-vanej v cudzej mene pomocou LME futures a FX forwardu. Zabezpečovaciu stratégia bola následne vykázaná v súlade so zabezpečovacím účtovníctvom podľa IFRS 9.

Abstract:

The objective of the master's thesis is to analyse Slovak business environment with focus on a usage of hedge accounting under IFRS 9 within the scope of Small and Medium-sized enterprises, and to recommend appropriate hedging strategy in selected SME. The thesis is focused on the hedge accounting under newly implemented standard IFRS 9. The object of the hedging strategy is to practise cash flow hedge to hedge forecasted highly probable purchase of an exchange traded copper, denominated in foreign currency, by using LME futures and FX forward. Subsequently, the hedge accounting under IFRS 9 is applied to report hedging strategy entries.
