Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je analýza vybraných děl prozaické tvorby dnes již zapomenutého spisovatele M. A. Šimáčka (1860–1913), která jsou vybrána zejména dle tematického klíče (naturalismus, realismus, pražský román, darwinismus a realismus s duševní analýzou). Předmětem této práce není pouze analýza vybraných děl, práce si dále klade za cíl zařadit autora a jeho tvorbu do širšího dobového literárního kontextu a rovněž poukázat na některá výjimečně zdařilá díla. První dvě kapitoly jsou kontextové a vymezují tvorbu M. A. Šimáčka. Další tři kapitoly se již podrobně věnují analýze vybraných děl a snaží se prokázat průkopnický a také leckdy ojedinělý ráz těchto prací, a to především pomocí komparatistické metody. Kromě primárního rozboru děl a uchopení charakteristických rysů Šimáčkovy poetiky je předmětem práce také zhodnocení próz dostupnou dobovou kritikou.

Abstract:

The aim of the Master's thesis is an analysis of selected writings of the prose writer now forgotten M. A. Šimáček (1860–1913). That writings are selected mostly according to the particular thematic keys (naturalism, realism, the so called Prague novel, darwinism and realism with an intellectual analysis). The subject of this work is not only an analysis of selected writings, the work also aims to include the author and his work in the broader context of contemporary literature and also to point out some of his exceptionally successful writings. The first two chapters are contextual and define the M. A. Šimáček’s writings. The next three chapters are extensively engaged in the analysis of selected writings and seeks to demonstrate an innovative and often unique character of these writings, primarily through the comparative methods. Beside the primary analysis of the works and the main characteristics of M.A. Šimáček’s poetry, the subject also includes an evaluation of the writings by available contemporary prose criticism.
