Quality of Life in Children with Cardiac Disease

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit vliv vybraných srdečních onemocnění na kvalitu života u dětí. Metodika: K výzkumu byly použity standardizované dotazníky hodnotící kvalitu života u dětí PedsQLTM 4.0 a dotazníky zaměřené na děti s kardiologickým onemocněním PedsQLTM Modul Kardio 3.0. Do výzkumného souboru byly zahrnuty děti ve věku 13?18 let. Data byla sbírána od května do prosince 2015 v ambulancích dětské kardiologie. Pro statistické zpracování dat byl použit program Stata verze 13. Testování hypotéz bylo prováděno pomocí neparametrického testu pro dva a více výběrů ? Wilcoxonův test, Kruskal ? Wallisův test a párový neparametrický Wilcoxonův test, na hladině významnosti 0,05. Výsledky: Průměrná hodnota vnímání kvality života byla 74,47. Největší rozdíly ve vnímání kvality života mezi dětmi se srdečním onemocněním se projevily v doménách tělesného a psychosociálního zdraví. Kvalita života byla lépe hodnocena chlapci než dívkami, tyto rozdíly byly zjištěny v doménách tělesného a emocionální zdraví, dále v doménách problémy se srdcem, vnímání fyzického vzhledu a komunikace. Délka léčby ani typ srdečního onemocnění neměly významný vliv na kvalitu života u dětí. Při porovnání hodnocení kvality života dětí samotnými dětmi a jejich rodiči byly zjištěny signifikantní rozdíly. Rodiče hodnotili kvalitu života dětí lépe, zejména u domén tělesného a emocionálního zdraví, problémů se srdcem, vnímání fyzického vzhledu a kognitivních problémů. Závěr: Byly nalezeny statisticky významné rozdíly ve vnímání kvality života dětí s onemocněním srdce ve věku 13?18 let.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of the study was to find out the effect of selected heart diseases on the children`s quality of life. Methodology: The study used standardized questionaires assessing the children`s quality of life PedsQLTM 4.0 and PedsQLTM and questionaires focused on children with cardiac disease Cardiac Module Version 3.0. Children aged 13 to 18 were included into the research file. The data was collected from May to December 2015 in pediatric cardiology surgeries. Statistical program Stata version 13 was used for statistical processing of the data. Hypotheses testing was performed using a non-parametric test for two or more selections ? Wilcoxom test, Kruskal-Wallis test and nonparametric paired Wilcoxon test, at a significance level of 0.05 (5 %). Results: The average value of perception of the quality of life was 74.47. The biggest differences in the perception of the quality of life among children with heart diseases were reflected in the domains of physical and psychosocial health. The quality of life was assessed better by boys than girls, these differences were found out in the domains of physical and emotional health as well as in the domains of heart problems, the perception of physical appearance and communication. The duration of treatment or the type of heart disease did not significantly affect the children`s quality of life. Significant differences were found out in comparison of the children`s quality of life assessed by the children themselves and by their parents. The children`s parents rated their quality of life better, particularly in the domains of physical and emotional health, heart problems, perception of physical appearance and cognitive problems. Conclusion: Statistically significant differences were found out in the perception of the quality of life of children aged 13?18 with heart diseases.
