Phylogeny and characteristics of Anguimorpha (Reptilia: Squamata)

Abstract:

Molekulární genetika a analýzy genomů pozměňují naše představy o příbuznosti jednotlivých organismů a všechny systémy vytvořené na základě morfologie podstupují revize. I přesto analýzy dle různých markerů a kombinace různých analytických přístupů přináší různé výsledky. Práce prezentuje historickou a současnou situaci skupiny Anguimorpha, která je součástí ohromné diverzity plazů. Pozoruhodné výsledky byly dosaženy studiemi, které kombinovaly výzkum genomů a studium fosilních zástupců. Stále probíhající výzkumy ukazují ohromný potenciál využití nových poznatků v mnoha oblastech vědy, např. v medicíně. Nová léčiva mohou pomoci v boji proti mnoha chorobám.

Abstract:

Molecular genetics and genome analyzes are changing our understanding of organismal relationships, rebuilding previous systems based on morphological characters. Despite new approaches, analyzes based on different markers and a combination of several methodological pathways may bring us different results. This study presents a history of previous research and actual knowledge in the Anguimorpha, which is group of a great reptilian diversity Very interesting results have been achievedby studies combining genomic research and fossil records. Still ongoing research shows the enormous potential of using new knowledge in many aspects of science, for example in medicine. New drugs can help us in fight against many diseases.
