Geocaching in Liberec with application Geocaching for cellphones

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá v současné době velice populární hrou geocachingem, která spojuje turistiku s informačními technologiemi. Tato aktivita spočívá v hledání ukrytých krabiček, které se nazývají keše. Jejich zeměpisné souřadnice jsou umístěny na internetových stránkách geocachingu. Člověk, který se vydá keš hledat, zadá její souřadnice do GPS přístroje, jež ho dovede na nějaké zajímavé místo, kde se skrýš nachází. Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce je zmonitorování geocachingu v Liberci a jeho využití při výuce na základních školách. Na začátku práce je tato aktivita představena a jsou vysvětleny všechny pojmy, principy a pravidla. V druhé části se práce zaměřuje přímo na geocaching v Liberci. Byla vybrána část Liberce, ve které došlo k zmapování všech keší a z nich je vytvořen přehled. Závěrečná část se soustředí na využití geocachingu na základních školách. Byly vytvořeny vlastní trasy, na kterých si mohou žáci základních škol snadno vyzkoušet, jak geocaching funguje. Ti, kterým se skrze tento způsob geocaching zalíbí, se mu mohou sami začít věnovat.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the game geocaching which is gaining much popularity these days. This game combines hiking as well as information technology. The activity is based on hunting hidden boxes, called caches, using geographical coordinates that can be found on geocaching's website. Participants then go to search for the cache by putting the coordinates into the GPS receiver and following the directions to an interesting place where the stash is located. The main goal of this thesis is monitoring of geocaching in Liberec and its use in the elementary education. First, geocaching is introduced and the terms, principles and rules are explained. The second part of the thesis is directly focused on geocaching in Liberec. There was chosen the part of Liberec, all of the caches from this part were charted and summarized. The final part is concentrated on the use of geocaching in elementary schools. There are developed own routes in which elementary school students could easily try how geocaching works. Through this type of promotion, those students who enjoy this activity, they can start to go in for geocaching.
