The importance and activity of intrinsic foot muscles in different types of footwear and transition to barefoot shoes

Abstract:

Předkládaná bakalářská práce shrnuje dosavadní poznatky zabývající se problematikou vnitřních svalů nohy a jaký vliv na tyto svaly má zvolená obuv. V první části práce jsou zmíněny fylogenetické a kineziologické poznatky, které jsou nezbytné pro pochopení dané problematiky. Dále je popsána funkce a význam daných svalů a rozdíly mezi konvenční a barefoot obuví. Druhá část práce porovnává dostupné studie, které se zabývají problematikou obuvi a jejím vlivem na vnitřní svaly nohy. Do práce bylo zařazeno deset studií, které byly vyhledány pomocí vyhledávače EBSCO a vědeckých databází PubMed, Cochrane a Google Scholar. Rozděleny pak byly podle použitých metod. Z výsledků těchto studií vyplývá, že barefoot a minimalistická obuv má pozitivní vliv na morfologii a funkci zmíněných svalů, nicméně je stále nedostatek studií, které využívají elektromyografii pro hodnocení jejich aktivity v různé obuvi. Součástí této práce je vypracovaná edukačního brožura, která má usnadnit široké veřejnosti přechod na barefoot obuv. Práce rovněž slouží jako souhrn dosavadních informací k dané problematice.

Abstract:

The presented bachelor thesis summarizes the existing knowledge dealing with the issue of the intrinsic foot muscles and the influence of the chosen footwear on these muscles. In the first part of the thesis, phylogenetic and kinesiological knowledge that is necessary for understanding the issue is mentioned. Then the function and importance of these muscles and the differences between conventional and barefoot footwear are described. The second part of the thesis compares the available studies that deal with the issue of footwear and its effect on the intrinsic foot muscles. Ten studies were included in the thesis and were searched using the EBSCO search engine and the scientific databases PubMed, Cochrane and Google Scholar. They were then categorized according to the methods used. The results of these studies show that barefoot and minimalist footwear has a positive effect on the morphology and function of the intrinsic foot muscles, however, there is still a lack of studies that use electromyography to assess their activity in different footwear. The aim of this thesis is to subsequently develop educational material in the form of a brochure to ease the general public's transition to barefoot footwear. The thesis also serves as a summary of existing information on the topic.
