New Perspectives of Musical Temporality in the 20th Century as a Problem of Notation

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se zabývá vztahem notace a hudební kinetiky. Ústředním problémem je zápis hudebních struktur, jejichž časovost překračuje dobový notační standard. Struktura práce reflektuje rovnoměrné rozložení problému mezi oblast notace a hudebního času - jádrem práce je srovnání časové proporcionality notačního systému s časovými proporcemi hudebního vjemu. Teoretické závěry práce jsou dokladovány příklady z nových notací 20. století. Hlavním cílem práce je dokumentace a metodické zaštítění pojednávaného problému.

Abstract:

The present study investigates the relationship between musical notation and musical kinetics. The main problem to be discussed is the notation of complex time process which surpass the notational standard. The structure of this paper reflects the even distribution of the problem between the field of notation and that of musical time - the study is centered on a comparison between time proportionality of a notation system and time proportions of music perception. Theoretical conclusions of the study are illustrated with examples taken from notation systems of 20th century. The main aim of this piece of work is to document and methodically support the problem discussed.
