The persistent primary reflexes in primary school age children

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje otázce přetrvávajících primárních reflexů u dětí v mladším školním věku. Teoretickými východisky jsou současné poznatky o primárních reflexech a metodách, které se zabývají jejich inhibicí. S touto problematikou jsou čím dál více spojovány poruchy chování, učení i motoriky, a proto bylo hlavním cílem zjistit, zda se u dětí na běžné základní škole primární reflexy stále objevují, ačkoliv měly být inhibované již v raném dětství. Sledovanou skupinou bylo 32 dětí ve věku od 6 do 7 let. Děti byly testovány na 6 vybraných primárních reflexů, které bývají s touto problematikou nejvíce spojovány. Vývoj a rizikové faktory byly zjišťovány pomocí dotazníkového šetření určeného pro zákonné zástupce dětí. Z výzkumu vyplývá, že u 78 % pozorovaných dětí přetrvává nejméně jeden vyšetřovaný reflex. Zároveň je patrná jistá spojitost přetrvávání primárních reflexů s odchylkami v raném psychomotorickém vývoji. Autorka práce v závěru doporučuje zvyšovat povědomí o této problematice, aplikovat preventivní cvičení v rámci předškolního a primárního vzdělávání a klást větší důraz na prevenci a diagnostiku přetrvávajících primárních reflexů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis addresses the issue of persistent primary reflexes in primary school-age children. The theoretical background is the current knowledge about primary reflexes and methods that deal with their inhibition. Behavioural, learning and motor impairments are increasingly associated with this issue and therefore the main aim was to investigate whether primary reflexes still occur in mainstream primary school children, although they should have been inhibited in early childhood. The study group consisted of 32 children aged 6 to 7 years. The children were tested for 6 selected primary reflexes that tend to be most associated with this issue. Developmental and risk factors were ascertained using a questionnaire survey designed for the children's guardians. The research showed that 78 % of the children observed had persistence of at least one reflex under investigation. At the same time, a certain association of the persistence of primary reflexes with deviations in early psychomotor development is evident. The author of the paper concludes by recommending to raise awareness of this issue, to apply preventive exercises in preschool and primary education and to put more emphasis on prevention and diagnosis of persistent primary reflexes.
