Comparison of somatotypes of Czech and Portuguese male and female students of physical education

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo porovnat somatotypy českých a portugalských studentů a studentek sportovních fakult. Podle standardizovaných antropometrických metod byly naměřeny základní tělesné parametry a somatotypy byly vypočítány v souladu s metodikou Heath – Carter Somatotyp. Bylo prokázáno, že portugalští studenti i studentky se liší od českých studentů již v základních tělesných parametrech, výšce a hmotnosti. Porovnáním jednotlivých komponent dále vyšlo najevo, že portugalští studenti i studentky mají více rozvinutou endomorfní složku, mají více tělesného tuku a oproti českým studentům mají méně rozvinutou složku mezomorfní, mají tedy méně svalové složky. Podle porovnání ektomorfních složek mají portugalští studenti oproti českým méně rozvinutou složku ektomorfní, u studentek vyšly hodnoty opačně, portugalské studentky mají ektomorfní složku více rozvinutou než studentky české.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to achieve a somatotypological comparison of male and female physical education students. Basic physical parameters were measured due to standardized anthropometrical methods and somatotypes were counted in line with the Heath – Carter Somatotype method. It was proved that Portuguese male and female students differ from Czechs even in basic parameters – body weight and height. Comparison of somatotypological components approved our assumptions – Portuguese male and female students have generally more developed endomorphic component and less developed mesomorphic component than Czech students. The assumption about ectomorphy was proved only in case of male students – Portuguese male students have less developed ectomporfic component than Czech male students. Female students acquired opposite values – Portuguese female students have more developed ectomorphic component than Czech female students.
