Robert Walser Jakob von Gunten Unreliable Narrator

Abstract:

In my dissertation I deal with novel Jakob von Gunthen by Swiss author Robert Walser. The novel is analysed on the basis of unreliable narration viewpoint. I present connection of the narrator’s unreliability with a diarial form of the novel and with the irony of the narrator. I point at inconsistency of narrator‘s statements, inosculation of his dreams and fantasies with reality. Background where the narration takes place is also presented. I also focus on language of the novel which is lavish of original metaphors and other stylistic elements.

Abstract:

Ve své práci se zabývám románem Jakob von Gunten švýcarského spisovatele Roberta Walsera. Pro rozbor románu jsem zvolila hledisko nespolehlivost vyprávění (unreliable narration). Uvádím souvislost nespolehlivosti vypravěče s deníkovou formou románu a s ironií vypravěče. Poukazuji na rozporuplnost vypravěčových výroků, prolínání jeho snů a fantazií s realitou. Představuji prostředí, na pozadí kterého se vyprávění odehrává. Rovněž se zaměřuji na jazyk románu, který je bohatý na originální metafory a jiné stylové prvky.
