Benchmarking as a tool for improve business performance

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na formulaci zlepšení výkonnosti vybrané stavební společnosti Belstav prostřednictvím moderní metody benchmarking. Tento nástroj představuje poměrně transparentní a univerzální metodu zjišťující diference mezi referenčními subjekty a důvody možných diferencí. Díky těmto aspektům je benchmarking metodou s narůstající implementací. Celá tato práce je rozdělena na dvě základní části, teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části je primárně představena podstata fungování a obchodní strategie českých stavebních firem. Navazující teorie se již zaměřuje na obecné i detailní představení předmětného stavebního trhu v českých podmínkách, kdy se jedná o legislativu, charakteristiku a ekonomický vývoj. Poslední teoretická část definuje a konkretizuje benchmarking a finanční analýzu z pohledu analýzy poměrových ukazatelů. Praktická část primárně představuje předmětnou společnost Belstav a vybrané konkurenty (Edilizio, BauTherm, Pefastav a Damont). Další kapitola je věnována finanční analýze společnosti Belstav a následné komparaci výstupů s konkurenty. Poslední část formuluje na základě předchozí komparace zlepšení výkonnosti společnosti Belstav. Závěr celé práce shrnuje zjištěná i formulovaná data a východiska.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis aims to formulate performance improvement of selected construction company Belstav through modern benchmarking. This tool is a fairly transparent and universal method for detecting differences between the reference entities and the reasons for differences. Thanks to these aspects, benchmarking is a growing implementation method. The whole thesis is divided into two basic parts, theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, the essence of the operation and business strategy of Czech construction companies is presented. The follow-up theory focuses on the general and detailed presentation of the relevant building market in Czech conditions, where it is about legislation, characteristics and economic development. The last theoretical part defines and concretizes benchmarking and financial analysis from the point of view of the analysis of ratios. The practical part is primarily Belstav and selected competitors (Edilizio, BauTherm, Pefastav and Damont). The next chapter is devoted to Belstav's financial analysis and subsequent comparison of outputs with competitors. The last part, on the basis of the previous comparison, formulates the performance improvement of Belstav. The conclusion of the whole work summarizes the established and formulated data and starting points.
