Analysis of IPO on selected stock markets

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou prvotních veřejných nabídek akcií (IPO) vybraných společností. První kapitola obsahuje základní charakteristiku IPO, anomálie a náklady s ní spojené. Druhá kapitola se zaobírá samotným procesem realizace. Praktická část, tedy závěrečná kapitola, je nejprve věnována analýze amerického trhu s IPO. Následuje základní charakteristika nejen vybraných burzovních trhů Nasdaq a NYSE, ale také zvolených společností Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, JD.com, Inc, Twitter, Inc a Facebook, Inc. Analýza IPO spočívá v základní charakteristice a následném vyhodnocení výnosnosti jednotlivých akcií za předem stanovená období. Hlavním cílem této práce je ověření hypotézy, že akcie společností, které realizovaly IPO, mají v dlouhém období nižší výnosnost oproti trhu. Dílčím cílem je nejen analýza amerického trhu, ale především porovnání vybraných IPO dle jednotlivých charakteristik.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with an analysis of Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) of selected companies. The first chapter contains the basic characteristics of the IPO, anomalies and costs associated with it. The second chapter deals with the implementation process itself. The practical part, therefore the final chapter, is first devoted to the analysis of the US IPO market. Following are the basic characteristics of not only selected Nasdaq and NYSE stock markets, but also selected companies Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, JD.com, Inc, Twitter, Inc and Facebook, Inc. The IPO analysis is based on the basic characteristics and the subsequent evaluation of the returns of individual shares for predetermined periods. The main objective of this work is to verify the hypothesis that the shares of the companies that have implemented the IPO have a lower profitability in the long run compared to the market. A partial goal is not only to analyze the US market but primarily to compare selected IPOs according to individual characteristics.
