The Epoch after the Battle of White Mountain 1648-1740. The "Dark Era" - the Myth and the Reality

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá dobou pobělohorskou z hlediska rekatolizace a s ní spojeným úpadkem. První kapitola je stručně zaměřena na vývoj náboženské situace v Čechách do roku 1620 a na vypuknutí českého stavovského povstání. Druhá kapitola je věnována počátkům rekatolizace a dopadům vestfálského míru na české země. Je zde zmíněn také život obyvatel ve městech a na venkově v době třicetileté války. Třetí kapitola se zabývá ústavněprávními, hospodářskými, národnostními změnami v době pobělohorské a rekatolizací za vlády Ferdinanda III. a Leopolda I. Tato kapitola se rovněž věnuje nové vlně rekatolizace za Karla VI. aneb karolinské fázi rekatolizace, rebelii na opočenském panství a ničením nekatolických knih. Čtvrtá a poslední kapitola je zaměřena na posouzení doby pobělohorské jako doby temna a na komparaci této doby s literárními díly, které se jí zabývají.

Abstract:

This bachelor's work deals with the epoch after the battle of White Mountain in terms of recatholisation and the associated decline. The first chapter is briefly focused on the development of the religious situation in the Czech lands until 1620 and the outbreak of the uprising of the estates. The second chapter is devoted to the origins of recatholisation and impacts Westphalian peace in the Czech lands. There is also mentioned live of population in cities and villages during the Thirty Years War. The third chapter deals with the constitutional, economic, national changes in the epoch after the battle of White Mountain, recatholisation during the reign of Ferdinand III. and Leopold I. This chapter also is devoted to new wave recatholisation under Charles VI. or Carolingian's stage of recatholisation, rebellion on the Opočno's manor and destruction of non-Catholic books. The fourth and final chapter is focused on assessment of the epoch after the battle of White Mountain as the dark ages and the compare this time with literary works that deal with it.
