Public Space as a Place for Self-expression

Abstract:

V teoretické části své bakalářské práce se věnuji fenoménu street art. Zkoumám rozdíl mezi uměním street artu a tvorbou graffiti. Dále se zabývám historií tohoto netradičního umění, jeho kulturou, ideologií a technikami, které používá. Rozebírám vztah street artu se zákonem a trend poslední doby, kdy se toto umění ulice dostává do galerií. V závěru pojednávám o postavení žen v převážně mužském světě street artu a graffiti. Blíže se pak věnuji tvorbě Swoon a Lady Pink. Jako praktická část vzniká autorská kniha z prostředí dámských veřejných toalet.

Abstract:

In the theoretical part of my bachelor thesis I focus on the phenomenon of street art. I examine the difference between street art and graffiti art. Further on I pay attention to the history, culture and ideology of this untraditional form of art and the techniques that street artists use. I focus on the relationship between street art and law and also mention the trend of street art being displayed in galleries. Finally I write about women's position in the mostly masculine world of street art and graffiti. In the last part I have a closer look on artists Swoon and Lady Pink. In the practical part I have created an author's book from the environment of women's public restrooms.
