Svetová banka je najvýznamnejšia medzinárodná finančná inštitúcia, ktorá v súčasnosti svojimi aktivitami pomáha členským krajinám prekonať finančnú krízu. Podstatou finančnej krízy bola realitná kríza, ktorá vznikla v USA v roku 2007 a v roku 2008 prerástla do globálnej.
