V súčasnosti sa napriek rozvoju medzinárodného obchodu a využívaniu nových spôsobov obchodovania jednotlivé subjekty vracajú k osvedčeným spôsobom známym od počiatkov ľudstva, ako napr. barter. V priebehu času boli tieto postupy menené a vylepšované, pričom jednotlivé variácie získavali rôzny názov.
