Práce se zabývá měnící se povahou vztahů mezi dvěmi kategoriemi aktérů ve světovém systému: národními státy a nadnárodními korporacemi. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda se nadnárodní korporace staly natolik autonomními a nekontrolovatelnými aktéry, že zbavily národní státy jejich základních znaků: území, obyvatelstva a vlády.
