German Loan-words in French and Czech: comparative study

Abstract:

This dissertation is divided into two parts, theoretic and practice. The objective of this study is to examine on the one hand the German loans used in French and Czech and their adaptations in these languages. On the other hand, research the areas from where they were borrowed and whether they are still used. The first part explains the definitions of loans. It deals with the process of borrowing words from one language to another. The study shows the infiltration of German words into French and Czech languages and their ability to adapt. It also shows the phonetic and semantic changes in words. The second part deals with specific words and their etymology. For the explanation of the origin of the words were used different French and Czech dictionaries, such as for example le Trésor de la langue française, Le Robert et clé international, the Etymological Dictionary, etc. This study attempts to classify borrowings into several areas, namely, if these loanwords are still used, and whether their meaning has changed over the years.

Abstract:

Ce mémoire est divisé en deux parties, la théorie et la pratique. L'étude du français et de l'allemand, et plus particuli?rement la remarquable créativité de nouvelles unités de vocabulaire, éveillé mon intér?t pour ce probl?me. L'objectif de cette étude est d'examiner d'une part les emprunts allemands utilisés en français et en tch?que et leurs adaptations dans ces langues, et, d'autre part rechercher les domaines auxquels ils ont été empruntés et s'ils sont toujours utilisés. La premi?re partie explique les définitions des emprunts et traite du processus d'emprunt lexical d'une langue ? l'autre. L'étude montre l'irruption des mots allemands dans les langues françaises et tch?ques et leur capacité ? s'adapter. Elle montre aussi les changements phonétiques et sémantiques de ces mots. La deuxi?me partie traite des mots concrets et de leur étymologie. Pour expliquer l'origine des mots, on a utilisé différents dictionnaires français et tch?ques, comme par exemple le Trésor de la langue française, le Robert et clé international, le Dictionnaire étymologique, etc. Cette étude tente de classer les emprunts en plusieurs domaines selon qu'ils sont toujours utilisés et que leur signification a changé ou non au cours des années.
