Comparing Opinions of Students and Teachers about Classroom Climate at Schools Utilizing Dalton Teachings and at Standard Schools

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá rozdílnou percepcí klimatu školní třídy z pohledu žáků a učitelů standardních škol a škol s daltonskými prvky vyučování. Jejím cílem bylo v těchto typech škol popsat a analyzovat názory žáků a jejich třídních učitelů na klima školní třídy, a následně porovnat rozdíly v jejich vnímání. Za tímto účelem byla v práci popsána teoretická východiska výzkumného problému a vyvozeny hypotézy, které byly testovány v empirické části práce na základě dat z provedeného výzkumu. Výzkumné šetření bylo provedeno pomocí dotazníku CES (Classroom Environmentr Scale), který byl administrován 422 žákům 8. a 9. ročníků a 21 třídním učitelům ve školách standardních a ve školách s daltonskými prvky vyučování. Z výsledků analýzy dat vyplynulo, že učitelé i žáci obou typů škol měli na klima školní třídy podobný názor. Učitelé hodnotili toto klima příznivěji než jejich žáci. Mezi oběma typy škol ve vnímání jejich aktérů byly nalezeny významné rozdíly v některých oblastech, celkově se však nepotvrdilo, že by klima ve školách jednoho typu bylo vnímáno příznivěji než klima ve školách druhého typu.

Abstract:

The topic of this thesis are differences in perception of classroom climate between students and teachers; standard schools and schools utilizing Dalton teachings. Its goal was to describe and analyse the opinions of teachers and students about classroom climate, in both types of schools and subsequently compare their perceptions. To this purpose, the theoretical starting points of the research problem have been described; hypotesis have been deduced, which were then tested in the empirical portion of this thesis, using data gathered in the research. This reasearch has been conducted using Classroom Environment Scale (CES) questionare, which has been administered to 422 students of 8th and 9th year, and 21 class teachers in standard schools and schools utilizing Dalton teachings. The analysis of data has shown, that teachers and students at both types of schools had a similar opinion of classroom climate. Teachers percieved climate more positively than their students. Differences in certain areas were found between the two types of schools; overall climate hasn't been percieved as more positive in one type of school than in the other.
