The life of augustinian Anselm Rambousek - the abbot of the friary in the old city of Brno - against a background of a cultural blow of the 19th century

Abstract:

Práce pojednává o augustiniánském mnichu Anselmu Rambouskovi, který byl v 19. století členem kláštera na Starém Brně. V této době byl klášter významným centrem kulturního života na Moravě, a to zvláště díky Cyrilu Františku Nappovi, který zde byl opatem. Pozornost v práci je nejvíce věnována národně-obroditelské činnosti Anselma Rambouska a ostatních mnichů. K těmto dalším zvláště pak patří Matouš Klácel a Pavel Křížkovský, kteří byli v této činnosti spolu s Rambouskem nejhorlivější. Ke konci života se Rambousek stal opatem kláštera, kde v roce 1901 také zemřel.

Abstract:

The work deals with Anselm Rambousek, an Augustinian friar, who was a member of a monastery in the old city of Brno in the 19th century. In this period the monastery was a significant cultural centre in Moravia, particularly thanks to its abbot Cyril František Napp. The attention is mostly given to the nationally-oriented activity of Anselm Rambousek and other friars. Among these friars were Matouš Klácel and Pavel Křížkovský outstanding; they were along with Rambousek the most enthusiastic about the activity. At the end of his life Rambousek became the abbot of the monastery and in 1901 he died there.
