Perception and reduction of flood risk by selected local businesses and organizations in the Litoměřice town

Abstract:

Povodně jsou diskutovanou záležitostí dnešní doby, jsou jednou z přírodních hrozeb, které nejvíce ohrožují území České republiky, vyskytující se nepravidelně, jak v čase, tak v prostoru a s různým stupněm intenzity. Jedná se o závažný ekonomický problém s velkými majetkovými škodami. Město Litoměřice, ležící na soutoku Labe a Ohře, bylo v minulosti několikrát postiženo velkou vodou a značná část města se nachází v záplavovém území. Diplomová práce je stěžejně zaměřená na vybrané firmy a organizace v Litoměřicích nacházející se právě v záplavové zóně povodní řeky Labe a jejím cílem je zhodnocení socioekonomických dopadů povodní, percepce povodňového rizika a možnosti jeho redukce. Hlavní metodou je semi-strukturovaný rozhovor, pomocí kterého bylo zmíněných cílů dosaženo. Dále je diskutována hlavní motivace výběru místa k podnikání a odpovědnost protipovodňové prevence.

Abstract:

Floods are the issue being discussed in these days, they are one of the natural threats that threaten the territory of Czech Republic the most, occurring irregularly in time and space with varying degrees of intensity. It is a significant economic problem with large property damage. Litoměřice, located at the confluence of the rivers Elbe and Ohře, has been affected several times in the past by floods and large part of the town is situated in a flood plain. The thesis is mainly focused on selected businesses and organizations located in the floodplain zone of the river Elbe in the Litoměřice town. The aim is to evaluate the socio-ecomonic impacts of flood risk, the perception of flood risk and the possibility of its reduction. The main method is a semi-structured interview to achiev the goals. In addition the main motivation for the choice of a place to run a business and the responsibility of the flood prevention is being discussed as well.
