Factors affecting the integration process of persons with visual disabilities in to society

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „Faktory ovlivňující integrační proces osob se zrakovým postižením do společnosti“ se zabývá aktuálními problémy, které se zaměřují na faktory mající vliv na schopnost jedince začlenit se do společnosti. Tyto faktory byly v práci rozděleny do dvou skupin na subjektivní, které může osoba sama ovlivnit svým přístupem k životu a na objektivní, které se týkají společnosti a způsobu jakým vnímá znevýhodněné jedince. Cílem práce je prostřednictvím rozhovorů zjistit zda je postižený jedinec schopen akceptovat svůj handicap a zda přistupuje k životu a k integraci do společnosti aktivně či pasivně. Dále také zjistit, jak k osobám se zrakovým postižením přistupuje společnost, zda umí akceptovat osoby odlišující se od majority a umí je přijmout mezi sebe, zda je ochotná a schopná vytvářet rovné příležitosti pro všechny své členy. Práce je rozdělená na dvě části teoretickou a empirickou. V teoretické části jsou vymezeny všeobecné poznatky o problematice osob se zrakovým postižením, klasifikace vad a charakteristika jednotlivých stupňů zrakového postižení, dále je popsán integrační proces a subjektivní a objektivní faktory, které na něho mají vliv. V empirické části byl použit kvalitativní výzkum. Výzkumné šetření bylo provedeno na základě rozhovorů se 6 informanty. Získaná data u rozhovorů byla analyzována metodou otevřeného kódování, jako výzkumná metoda byla zvolená zakotvená teorie. Cílem výzkumu je poukázat na skutečnosti, které mají své místo v integračním procesu.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis “Factors influencing the integration process of people with visual disabilities”, deals with current problems, which are focused on factors that influence abilities of individuals to integrate into the society. These factors were divided in this thesis into two groups: as subjective ones which people may affect by their own approach to their life and objective ones relating to the society, to the way they perceive disadvantaged individuals. The aim of the thesis is to find out through conducted interviews how each individual is able to accept his/her handicap and if he/she approaches to the life and to the integration in to the society actively or passively. We also would like to find out how the society is interested in people with visual disabilities, whether people from the society can accept ones who differ from the majority and are able to accept among thems and whether the society is willing and able to create equal opportunities for all its members. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical. In the theoretical part it defines general knowledge about people with visual disabilities, defects classification and characteristics of individual degrees of visual impairment, further it describes the integration process and the subjective and objective factors that influence this process. In the empirical part there was used a qualitative research and the grounded theory was selected as the research method. The survey was based on interviews with 6 informants. The information obtained in the interviews was analyzed using the open coding. The aim of the research is to identify the factors which affect the success of the integration process.
