Fieldwork using mobile applications: planning, implementation, evaluation

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem integrace mobilních zařízení do výuky zeměpisu, konkrétně terénní výuky. Cílem práce je práce je navrhnout terénní výuku v hodinách zeměpisu založené na využití mobilních aplikací, zrealizovat tyto hodiny, zhodnotit jejich ne/úspěšnost a navrhnout možná zlepšení do budoucna. Teoretická část se zabývá z části pojmem terénní výuka, jejími cíli, plánovaním, přínosy, riziky, přístupy učitelů a postoji žáků k této formě výuky, dále se věnuje vlivu mobilních technologií a jejich funkci ve výuce, k čemu je lze využít nejen v zeměpise, kladům a záporům jejich začlenění, roli učitele v tomto procesu včetně současného stavu začleňování mobilů a tabletů do výuky v ČR. V neposlední řadě se teoretická část dotýká i metodě BYOD (Bring your own device) a tvorbě pracovních listů. Praktická část se zpočátku zaměřuje na výběr místa pro terénní výuky, charakteristiku pracovních listů a popis průběhu terénního cvičení. Hlavním bodem této části jsou pracovní listy, jejichž vyplněné verze žáky jsou následovně analyzovány, a také metodické listy. Poslední kapitoly praktické části se věnují zhodnocení provedeného terénního cvičení a návrhům zlepšení pracovních listů a celkově průběhu terénní výuky do budoucna.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with integration of mobile devices into Geography lessons, namely fieldwork. The aim of the thesis is to design fieldwork for Geography lesson based on using mobile applications, to carry it out, evaluate its success/failure and to suggest possible improvements for future. The theoretical part deals with fieldwork as a term, its aims, planning, benefits, risks, approaches of teachers and pupils‘ attitude. It is followed by the influence of mobile technology, its function in education, pros and cons of its integration, the role of a teacher in this process and current situation of the integration in Czech schools as well. Finally, this part deals with BYOD method (Bring your own device) and worksheet creation for pupils. The practical part initially focuses on choice of fieldwork location, on characteristics of the worksheets and on the description of fieldwork process. The main item of this part are worksheets and methodological sheets. Completed worksheets by pupils are analysed subsequently. Last chapters of the practical part deals with evaluation of the fieldwork, suggestion of improvements for worksheets and fieldwork process as well.
