Ondřej Keřský z Řimovic. Life and Death of a Hussite Commander

Abstract:

Cílem je zpracování biografie husitského vojevůdce Ondřeje Keřského z Řimovic, jehož můžeme řadit k příslušníkům tzv. válečnického aristokracie. Práce se bude zabývat Keřského činností ve funkci hejtmana domácí táborské obce a jeho osudy v polipanském období, během něhož se uchýlil ke krádežím a loupežím, za což byl nakonec roku 1446 po zásahu landfrýdního vojska popraven. Kromě vypsání vojevůdcova životního příběhu na pozadí dobových politických a sociálních změn husitské epochy bude provedena komparace jeho osoby a kariéry s některými jinými veliteli kališnických vojsk. Rozebrány budou rovněž možné příčiny hejtmanova pádu. Opomenuty nezůstanou ani jeho majetkové poměry. Práce bude založena na principech biografické, přímé i nepřímé metody.

Abstract:

The aim is to elaborate a biography of the Hussite warlord Ondřej Keřský of Řimovice, who can be classified as a member of the so-called warrior aristocracy. The thesis will deal with Keřský's activities as the commander of the home municipality of Tabor and his fate in the period after the battle of Lipany, during which he resorted to theft and robbery, for which he was finally executed in 1446 after the intervention of the landfriede troops. In addition to recounting the commander's life story against the backdrop of contemporary political and social changes of the Hussite era, a comparison will be made between his person and career and some of the other commanders of the utraquist armies. The possible causes of the commander's downfall will also be analysed. His financial circumstances will also be considered. The thesis will be based on the principles of biographical, direct, and indirect methods.
