Hematology analyzer performed schistocytes examination of selected patient group and comparison of obtained results with microscopic evalution of peripheral blood smears

Abstract:

Schistocyty jsou fragmenty erytrocytů v periferní krvi a jejich počet je významný ukazatel při diagnostice MAHA. V dnešní době se nejčastěji stanovuje počet schistocytů mikroskopickou metodou, ale toto vyšetření lze také provést automaticky na hematologickém analyzátoru Sysmex XE-5000, jako parametr FRC. Ve své práci se zaměřuji na porovnání a využití mikroskopického a přístrojového způsobu vyšetření erytrocytárních fragmentů. Z výsledků mé práce lze přístrojové vyšetření, po primární mikroskopické kontrole, doporučit k monitorování počtu schistocytů. Parametr FRC lze také využít, za stanovených podmínek laboratoře, k vyloučení přítomnosti schistocytů ve vzorku.

Abstract:

Schistocytes are fragments of erythrocytes in peripheral blood and their number is an important indicator in the diagnosis of MAHA. The microscopic method is currently the most used method for determination of schistocytes count, but such examination can also be performed automatically on the hematology analyzer Sysmex XE-5000, as the FRC parameter. In my work I focus on the comparison of microscopic and automatic method of erythrocyte fragments examination. Based on the result of my work, automatic examination can be recommended for monitoring the schisctocyte count after primary microscopic inspection. The FRC parameter can be also used, under specified laboratory conditions, to exclude the presence of schistocytes in the sample.
